Imperium3 New York to bring lithium-ion battery factory, jobs to Endicott

Endicott Proud had an exciting update at their latest meeting.

Shailesh Upreti, the President of Charge CCCV, was there to talk about the progress of his company.

It has the intellectual property that serves as the core for the Imperium3 consortium that will create a lithium-ion battery factory at Endicott’s Huron Campus.

Upreti says that current battery manufacturing practices are outdated and his company will bring a more sustainable process and product going forward.

He believes that he can develop one of the nation’s leading green lithium-ion production facilities before expanding globally.

“For the community I think it will be a good change because there was an industry that at peak was employing thousands of people. So this is a new start and this industry has potential to basically employee thousands of people that’s the future. Green technology, renewable energy that is the future,” said Upreti.

Upreti says small scale hirings have already begun but will ramp up next year with hopes to be up to 700 employees by 2021.

Production is set to begin next summer.
