A downtown Binghamton jeweler is celebrating 40 years in business.
The Goldsmith is welcoming the community to a special celebration tomorrow evening.
The Goldsmith manufacturers most of its jewelry on site using a team of designers, many of whom have been with the business for most of its four decades.
The store has always been in downtown and has been in the historic Kilmer Building for the past 11 years.
Owner and founder Gina Mowrie-McHugh says their pieces are hand-crafted using traditional techniques that are something of a lost art.
“That’s what sets us apart from other businesses. We do hand-crafted and very high quality work. We’re meticulous in our care, setting stones, and polishing and making sure it’s the best that we can produce,” Mowry-McHugh says.
The Goldsmith also sells some apparel, American art glass and other gift items.
Tomorrow’s celebration runs from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm and will include wine and live jazz music.
There will be an estate jewelry dealer from New York City and two jade carvers displaying their collections.
Plus, and this is key, the Goldsmith will be unveiling 120 new pieces that its designers have been creating and stockpiling for the better part of the last year.
