Girl Scouts of NYPENN honors Margherita Rossi

News

The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Council is ready to honor another local woman for making a positive impact on our area.

Margherita Rossi is the recipient of the Women of Distinction honor.

Women of Distinction have been honored by the Girl Scouts since 2000 for their professional and civic achievements in Greater Binghamton.

Rossi is a Professor at SUNY Broome and the founding director of the school’s Women’s Institute.

Committee Member Linda Biemer, who herself was the award’s first recipient, says Rossi perfectly exemplifies what a Woman of Distinction is supposed to be.

“We’re honoring Margherita this year because she is certainly a can-do person. The expression she lives by is when an idea comes up ‘if they won’t do it who will, we will, let’s get to work.’ She’s a real doer and a very positive person.”

Rossi will be honored at a breakfast celebration next Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel in Binghamton.

Tickets are on sale at GSNYPENN.org/ for $45.

Registration closes tomorrow.

Proceeds from the celebration support scholarships for Gold Award Girl Scouts.
