Family, friends, and the New York State law-enforcement community gathered at Alfred University on Sunday to remember a New York State Trooper who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
The funeral services for Trooper Nicholas Clark were in the James A. McLane Physical Education Center.
Reverend Donald Maynard officiated the ceremony, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo attended as well.
Trooper Clark was responding to a report of a suicidal person around 3:30 a.m. when he was shot outside a home in the town of Erwin.
Investigators say the man inside the home – 43-year-old Steven Kiley – shot and killed himself after firing at Clark.
Kiley was a principal in the Bradford Central School District.
