First Knight in Windsor on New Year’s Eve
First Knight Windsor 2018 is sure to be an event to remember! Regardless of the weather, this event will take place from 6 pm – midnight on New Year’s Eve. Our goal is to provide a safe, healthy way for families and individuals to spend an affordable evening of merriment! Start at our Village Community House or any of the other venues where you can pick up a Program booklet to plan your evening, and enter a free drawing at every venue you visit to win great prizes such as our 40” Smart TV. Be sure to arrive early if you want to have a delicious chicken and biscuit dinner at the Lighthouse Community Church or for a lighter fare, visit the First United Methodist Church for soup and sandwiches and top it all off with the chocolate fountain at Acclaim Insurance Agency . Of course, there are a variety of snack foods throughout the event, so you shouldn’t get hungry.
This event is funded by the wonderful sponsorships we have been fortunate enough to obtain in order that we can keep the event free of cost so all can enjoy the programs and events. Special thanks to Bluestone Wind Farm for their sponsorship of the programs, Coughlin Gerhart for their sponsorship of the history programs, High Bridge Wind Farm for sponsoring Countdown to Midnight, Adams Cable for sponsoring the televised balldrop from NYC and the TV raffle, Visions Federal Credit Union, Williams Energy and the Windsor Lions Club for all their help financially. Please be sure to support our sponsors! I don’t want to forget to remind you to thank our numerous volunteers who give selflessly of their time and talents to make this event a success!
If you arrive before the parade, you can create spectacles at the Presbyterian Church or decorate hats at the United Methodist Church. Wear your new creations or come as you are to march in the parade. To participate or volunteer to carry our larger than life puppets in the parade, please join us at the Town Hall parking lot at 6:45 pm. There are smaller hand held items for young children to participate as well.
We are pleased to announce that our carnival will once again be hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Knights of Columbus with many games for the children along with an indoor snowball fight. We are also pleased to bring you a portable planetarium from Kopernik Observatory with shows every half hour from 8 – 11 pm and a Bounce House at the Bible Baptist Church. Animal Adventure will be bringing some friends to meet at the First United Methodist Church. All these events and more are certain to bring smiles to young and old.
As the evening winds down, join us at the Village Community House for First Knight cake and coffee, free noisemakers, a bonfire, s’mores and more. The festivities end with the swearing in of several Windsor Town Officials just after midnight. For a full schedule of events, please check our website: www.firstnightwindsorny.org or LIKE us on Faceb
