Endicott man arrested for shooting near police, stealing ATM

An Endicott man who allegedly fired a BB gun in the vicinity of two police officers was later discovered to have allegedly stolen an ATM.

Police say Angel T. Rohena, 47, fired the BB gun in the vicinity of two officers who were conducting a separate burglary investigation on Jan. 28, 2019. Rohena was taken into custody without incident, but further investigating turned up several other charges.

During the investigation, police recovered a Rugar Carbine Rifle with the serial number defaced at Rohena’s residence. 

Police also uncovered stolen currency at the residence believed to be involved in a burglary that occurred on Jan. 27, 2019 at the Upper Cuts Barbershop at 124 W. Main St in the Village of Endicott where an ATM was stolen.

The NYSP Dive Team uncovered the ATM machine in the Susquehanna River in the Town of Union.

Rohena has been charged with one count of Burglary in the 3rd Degree (a Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (a Class D Felony), and Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree (a Class A Misdemeanor).
