Ready, set, eat!

Binghamton Restaurant Week returns next week with 28 eateries in the city offering special pre-fix meals at a discount.

A news conference was held at Peterson’s Tavern today by eatBING, the organization that runs the event.

Peterson’s, at the corner of Front and Main, is offering a three course lunch for $10  and a three course dinner for $20.

Lunch specials include the Peterson’s burger or the vegan Impossible burger.

For dinner, there’s Meatball Heaven or the Peterson’s filet.

Plus, a pineapple jalapeno smoked pork shank appetizer.

Co-Owner and Head Chef Nate Jachimowicz says he saw a 30% to 40% increase in business during their first Restaurant Week.

“It gets our name out there. It gets our food style out there. We get to showcase what my chefs can do in the kitchen. It also gives people an opportunity that usually wouldn’t be in this area to venture in,” he said.

This year’s charity partner is a new organization to our area that serves the Down Syndrome community.

GiGi’s Playhouse Southern Tier has been in the planning for the past two years.

It plans to open in Vestal in late May and offer educational, social, fitness and vocational programs for people with Down Syndrome of all ages.

Team Lead Anna Bruce brought her 7-year-old son Camden to the news conference.

“We’re not just providing fun for them. And we’re not willing to accept that because they have a disability, we’re going to have low expectations. Our goal is for them to always give their best of all,” she says.

Bruce says the support of the community has been amazing.

Restaurant Week runs from Tuesday March 26th through Thursday April 4th.
