After round one Kevin Sutherland was six shots off the lead at one under par.

On Saturday Sutherland tore up the course and got lots of practice drawing circles on his scorecard as he shot a Champions Tour record 59 in round two of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.

After carding a 9 under on the front 9, the Champions Tour rookie fired a 31 on the back to finish 13 under on the day.

Sutherland would birdie 16 and 17 to set himself up for a 58 but would three putt 18 to end the day with 12 birdies, one eagle and a pesky bogey for a 59.

He jumped from 38th place to the top of the leaderboard and said the walk up 18 is one he will never forget.
