Golf fans couldn’t have asked for a better end to a great weekend.

Hometown favorite Joey Sindelar walks up 18 to big cheers, birdie putt for him just misses, he finishes the tournament at 4 over.

Rochester native Jeff Sluman putting for birdie on 12, gets it to fall, he finishes 9 under.

Olin Browne putting for birdie on two, drains it. Then putting for par on 8, huge par save and he finishes at 13 under.

Saturday’s history maker Kevin Sutherland with a lengthy par attempt on 8, just wasn’t his day and he finishes at 12 under.

Same group, same hole, Steve Lowery for birdie, smooth like butter, he takes the lead but falls apart late to finish three shots back.

Dick Mast putting from across the green on 16, on line the whole way, but lips out, he can’t believe it, he also finishes at 12 under.

Woody Austin putting for par on 16, just falls in, big putt there to keep him in the hunt, he takes the clubhouse lead at 15 under.

A couple groups later, Mark O’Meara putting for the birdie on the popular 16th, jars it and he joins Austin in the clubhouse at -15.

Now to your Schwab Cup points leader, Bernhard Langer, with a close range birdie on 5, rolls it in.

On 8, Langer with a tester for par, never strays from the its line, huge putt to stay tied for the lead at the time.

To 18, Langer putting for birdie, just a few rolls short but he didn’t need to make it. He taps it in and he is your 2014 Dick’s Sporting Goods Open champion.

He said it was an extra special win for him.

“It’s always special to win, it never gets boring, but to come from four behind and to have my daughter carry the bag for me all week, that’s very very special. She has caddied for me a couple times now and my son and I had several victories but she’s never had one so I was a little bit nervous coming down the stretch because I wanted it real bad for her,” said Langer.

“I’m always happy to be out here caddying, it’s just a great week with my dad, quality time, but to have a win is definitely special. I’ll have him sign the flag and I’ll definitely put it up in my room,” said Langer’s daughter Christina.

At the end of it all, Langer shoots a final round 66 for the victory.

Woody Austin and Mark O’Meara made late charges to finish tied for second at 15 under.

Marco Dawson, Olin Browne and Steve Lowery finished up at -13.

Round two leader, Kevin Sutherland finished four back. He was joined by qualifying champ Dick Mast and three others at -12.
