BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The public is invited to hear the latest ideas on what to do with an outdoor pedestrian mall in the heart of Binghamton.
A meeting about the Washington Street Mall is planned for tomorrow evening. Project consultants will present general concepts and solicit input about ways to improve the section of the street that is closed to traffic. City officials say topics will include green space, lighting and landscaping. Parking, however, is no longer under consideration.
The project is part of the city’s larger Arts DECO District plan for streetscape improvements, public art installations and investments to support art and culture destinations downtown. Tomorrow’s meeting takes place at 6:30 in the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator on Hawlay Street.
Another public meeting will be held once final design options are developed.
