Cuomo secures funds for child advocacy centers

Governor Cuomo has announced over four million dollars in funding to support child advocacy centers and mobile units.

The mobile units ensure that child abuse victims and their non-offending family members have access to the services they need closer to home.

Four counties, including Tioga, will each receive $150,000 the first year and then $100,000 the following two years for the expansion of child advocacy centers.

Six other mostly rural counties, including Delaware, will receive new mobile units along with $50,000 a year for the next three years to operate them.

The first mobile unit is expected to be on the road in May in Delaware County.
