Jan DeAngelo and Company are promising an enchanted evening on a tropical isle as they raise funds for two local organizations.
A concert version of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical “South Pacific” will be staged at the Cider Mill Playhouse this weekend.
The production is a fundraiser for both the Cider Mill Playhouse, in its quest to fund a new home, and the JCC’s fitness department.
A concert version has the singers standing at microphones, singing from scripts while a 14 piece orchestra accompanies them on stage.
“It’s about the music and about the singing. There is one piece however that we are doing more or less full-out. And it’s a piece you just couldn’t do this show and not do it properly,” said singer Shannon DeAngelo.
DeAngelo says there will be more than two dozen singers in all.
The performances are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Cider Mill Playhouse dot com or by calling (607) 748-7363.
