A town supervisor from Chenango County has been charged with using taxpayer money to fund a lavish lifestyle.
70 year-old Dennis Brown of the Town of Pharsalia is accused of embezzling over 123 thousand dollars from the town’s accounts.
Brown allegedly used the town’s credit card to purchase designer handbags, jewelry and vacations to New York City and Myrtle Beach.
He’s also accused of having the town pay his phone, internet and electric bills.
He is now facing multiple charges including grand larceny, fraud, and corruption.
The State Comptroller began an audit of the town in 2018 which reportedly led to the discovery that Brown had been stealing since 2010.
