Samaritan Counseling Center of the Southern Tier is the Greater Binghamton Chamber Business of the Week.
Samaritan offers spiritually-sensitive mental health counseling for couples, families and individuals from age 3 to senior citizens.
It began in 1983 in the basement of the Union Presbyterian Church in Endicott and two and a half years ago moved to East Main Street in Endwell at the corner of South Knight Ave.
Executive Director Marian Towers says Samaritan’s 10 counselors assist clients with anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, as well as parenting and relationship issues.
Towers says they work with people regardless of their faith. “We treat the whole person: the mind, body, spirit and community. Because we’re not just islands in a stream. We are in a community, so that’s all together.”
Samaritan recently purchased and demolished the house next door which will allow them to add a driveway entrance right off of Main Street.
The organization is accredited by the Solihten Institute and has space to hire more licensed clinical social workers.
