Elderwood Village at Vestal is the Greater Binghamton Chamber Business of the Week.
The assisted senior living community just changed ownership last month.
Built in 1973 as the Woodland Village on the Green, it’s gone through several ownership changes since then, most recently having been Brookdale Vestal East before being sold to Elderwood.
The facility serves seniors who still have some independence but receive assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming and medications.
Elderwood also provides meals and housekeeping and plenty of activities including fitness, gardening and games like trivia, bingo, golf and volleyball, along with weekly outings chosen by the residents.
Administrator Colleen Hunt says through the changes in ownership, the community has maintained a staff of dedicated, veteran caregivers. “I think that is truly one of the most important things about the community here is the getting to know your loved one, getting to know what their needs are, and being able to provide the care that’s specially tailored for them.”
Elderwood Village at Vestal employs 30 people and is looking to fill some newly created positions.
It also has some vacancies for residents.
