The Binghamton Baseball Booster Club is the Greater Binghamton Chamber Business of the Week.
Binghamton Baseball Boosters was founded in 2013 in an effort to ensure that professional baseball remains in Greater Binghamton.
The club has 100 members who can attend monthly meetings and special events, receive special discounts and get chances to interact with the players.
When the Boosters was formed, the future of pro baseball in Binghamton was in doubt.
Vice President and Co-Founder Jeff Smith says new owner John Hughes has made a great commitment to keeping the Ponies in Binghamton and making improvements to the stadium.
Smith says per game attendance has gone up 35% in the last two years. “We’re very pleased because we have a great sense that the team is going to stay here. A lot of good things are happening. The capital improvements are very instrumental in attracting higher levels of participation.”
Smith says owner John Hughes spoke at the club’s monthly meeting earlier this month.
The club also looks for ways to support the players, holding an annual steak dinner for them and rewarding one with a Player of the Month honor each month.
Annual dues are $10.
