Building Bridges of Understanding Across Cultures

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – This August, the American Civic Association will continue with
its mission to support immigrant and refugee members of the Southern Tier
community by hosting an Immigration Panel on Tuesday, August 7th from 5:30pm to
. In wake of family separations and ever changing immigration policy, the
American Civic Association aims to inform and educate the community about the
ongoing changes in hope of providing better understanding and dialogue on the
matters. The topics of discussion will be family separations, asylum, immigrant law and
policy, Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals, Temporary Protected Status, and
migration causes and factors. There will be a range of panelists that have varied
expertise in the field to discuss the various topics and answer any of the community’s
questions. A few refreshments will also be provided.

The American Civic Association is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization with seventy nine
years of service to the Southern Tier. Their core purpose is to introduce refugees and
immigrants from diverse nations to the American culture, while creating the
stepping-stones for productive membership in our community.
