Broome County Executive-Elect Jason Garnar announced his picks for his executive staff Wednesday morning.
Garnar says his is only appointing one deputy county executive instead of the allotted two, resulting in a savings of approximately $100,000 a year.
According to a release from Garnar’s office, his executive staff is:
Kevin McManus – Deputy County Executive
McManus is a graduate of Binghamton University’s MPA program and has worked in Broome County as an educator and in local and state government for many years.
Ben Lainhart – Executive Assistant
Lainhart was a librarian for several years before joining Jason’s campaign as Campaign Manager and then leading the Transition Team after the election. He has a BA from Binghamton University and an MS from Drexel University.
Colleen Wagner – Executive Assistant
Wagner is a Former Executive Assistant/Runaway Homeless Youth Coordinator for Broome County, Youth Bureau Director for City of Binghamton, and most recently a Case Manager for the Teen Transitional Living Program at Catholic Charities.
Faith Vavra – Secretary to the Deputy
Vavra holds an MA in Public Administration and an MA in Criminal Justice. She has recently worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Suny Broome and as the Director of Community Health at Broome YMCA.
Connor Gates – Administrative Assistant
Gates is a SUNY Broome Graduate who had been with the Binghamton Mets for the past 19 seasons in several capacities, most recently the Director of Community Relations.
Garnar says he will announce several department head changes next week.
He also announced the expansion of Open Office Hours to include some evenings and weekends, and he says he and his staff will hold “pop-up” office hours throughout the county.
Garnar says schedules for the new office hours will be available in the new year.
