Potential bidders for this month’s Broome County foreclosure auction have an opportunity to inspect more than half the homes available this weekend.
That includes a vacant duplex on Glendale Road in the Town of Union.
The county is holding its next auction on Saturday, July 21.
However, this weekend, starting Friday through Sunday, there will be open houses at 45 of the 82 properties.
Most of them are single family homes.
All of them are outside of the City of Binghamton.
Director of Real Property Tax Service Dave Hamlin says all of the houses are sold without any liens or back taxes owed.
However, they’re also sold as-is, so the buyer is responsible for bringing them up to code.
“That’s one of three auctions we’re going to be doing this Summer and Fall. The problem is that the county foreclosure is so high currently, we split them off into two separate auctions. We do a lot of vacant land in October,” said Hamlin.
The auction and open houses are being conducted by Mel Manasse and Son Auctioneers.

The auction itself takes place Saturday, July 21, at the Holiday Inn Binghamton.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the bidding starting at 10 a.m.
