That’s the name of an upcoming concert of unforgettable Broadway songs performed by local tenor Tony Villecco.
This Saturday, Villecco will appear at the Ti-Ahwaga Performing Arts Center singing selections from Oklahoma, Cabaret, Chess and My Fair Lady, as well as a little know 1924 tune by Irving Berlin.
Villecco, who is also a trained opera singer, says these are the melodies everyone loves. “A lot of folks are going to know these songs. There’s melodies, and I’m not going to tell you what they are, but there are songs that they are going to immediately recognize. And there’s some stuff that I’m doing that’s not normally sung. So, I’m hoping to introduce folks to some new pieces that are not your typical Broadway selections.”
Now, as for the title, Villecco says it’s a joke stemming from a number in a Chorus Line in which performers are being judged on a scale of 1 to 10 on their singing and dancing ability.
Villecco rates himself a 10 for singing and a 3 for dancing, so he won’t be moving his feet much on Saturday. The show begins at 7:30 PM.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Tiahwaga.com or by calling 687-2130.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and the Binghamton Pride Coalition which advocates on behalf of the local LGBT community.
