The local chapter of the Boys Scouts of America has announced its recipient of its Broome County Distinguished Citizen of the Year.
The award this year is going to Joe Mirabito, President and CEO of Mirabito Energy Products.
Mirabito says his father instilled in him the value of giving back.
His family ran a youth camp in the Sidney area for many years.
Mirabito says he’s honored to be recognized. “Scouting is more important today than ever before. There are so many distractions that our youth have to face today. The world seems to be getting even more complicated. Scouting takes our youth and makes them tomorrow’s leaders. Leaders who know the importance of teamwork, and leaders who know the importance of understanding and compassion.”
Mirabito will receive his award during the annual dinner, which will also include testimonials from local scouts.
It takes place on May 1st at the McKinley in Endicott.
