BOCES holds a send-off rally for Special Olympics participant News by: Staff Posted: Mar 2, 2019 / 02:02 AM UTC / Updated: Mar 2, 2019 / 02:02 AM UTC Broome-Tioga BOCES held a send-off rally for a student who will be representing our country on a global stage. 16 year-old Jared Lamb will be participating in the Special Olympics that begin on March 14th in Abu Dhabi. Lamb, a Tioga resident, is a student in the Oak Tree program which is for children with autism. He earned a spot on the U.S team after winning a gold medal in the 400 meter race at the New York State Finals and then performing well at Nationals in Seattle last July. Chelsea Hinman has been Lamb’s Special Olympics Coach since he started in 2014. She says that Jared has worked so hard to reach this point. Lamb will be one of an estimated 7,500 athletes from more than 190 counties participating in 24 Olympic sports in Abu Dhabi.
