People participating in a national charity basketball tournament will have a chance to help make life easier for a little boy battling brain cancer.
The Gus Macker charity basketball tournament takes place this weekend in Norwich.
This year, representatives from NYCM Insurance have started a fundraiser to benefit 4-year old Cameron Naubereit of Norwich, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in February.
Participants can donate any dollar amount to take a 3-pointer, foul shot and layup.
Those who sink the shots will be entered in a drawing to repeat the process.
If they make all 3 again, they will win $1,000.
“We always try to raise money for those in need or do something for those in need. Since the Norwich area already knows about Cameron, that’s something we wanted to support. It’s a great thing to take advantage of,” said Marketing Intern Samantha Harrington.
NYCM will match the amount of donations collected.
Cameron is in remission and the tumor has been removed.
He will undergo two more chemo treatments followed by eight weeks of radiation.
The contest takes place in the Tops parking lot, located near the street basketball courts.
