Some local elementary school students have been grabbing attention internationally.

The All Saints Catholic School’s Odyssey of the Mind team placed second in the World Finals Competition.

The event took place in Iowa and featured 850 teams from all over the world including Australia, Poland and Germany.

The All Saints team featured students that varied in age from 7 to 11.

This year’s second place finish stands out as the team competed in a division with over 70 teams.

Fifth grader Christian Taber says he enjoyed the experience and hopes to make it back to Worlds.

“I just think that it’s such an amazing experience we’re so glad that we were able to get back to worlds, and hopefully we can continue on with amazing work with Odyssey of the Mind,” said Taber.

Two years ago the All Saints team made it to Worlds placing in 20th.

There were three other local schools that had teams compete at Worlds: Windsor’s Floyd L Bell, Vestal’s African Road Elementary, and Vestal High School.
