BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — A Harpursville family is reeling and looking for the community’s help following a fatal accident in Mississippi last week.
21 year-old Dante Carroll of Harpursville died on Thursday while on a car trip to Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi where his brother Dusty was recently stationed. Dante’s grandmother Karen Carroll received serious injuries to her ribs, pelvis and arm in the crash. They were traveling with Dante’s girlfriend, who wasn’t seriously injured, when about 1 hour from their destination they were struck in the rear by a distracted driver who allegedly took his eyes off the road to change the radio.
The Carroll’s Volkswagen Jetta left the roadway and struck a tree. Older brother Dakota says Dante was loved by all who knew him. The Carrolls are struggling to raise funds to transport Dante’s body back to our area to be buried. They also want to medivac Karen back home so that she can recover locally.
They’ve established a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $50,000.
