The 2019 Sock Out Cancer Benefit Concert will showcase a beloved decade of music.
The 80’s will be the theme of this year’s concert taking place Friday at 8 at the Forum Theatre in Binghamton.
Performing some of the hits from the decade will be Alex Ligertwood, former lead singer of Santana, and Kevin Chalfant who has been a vocalist with Journey.
The two will be backed by the Phillip Myers Band which will also play songs from Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Boston and U2.
UHS Foundation Executive Director Cory Jacobs says people are really looking forward to this year’s performers. “There’s a lot of people that love the 80’s music so we’ve been hearing a lot of chatter on social media looking forward to this concert. We have younger people whose parents maybe grew up listening to the 80’s and then we have a lot of people who grew up during the 80’s. So they can relate to a lot of the songs.”
Sock Out Cancer raises money to help pay for everyday expenses for cancer patients at UHS and Lourdes Hospitals.
Since its inception, the program has raised nearly 150 thousand dollars for 76 cancer patients with financial challenges.
Tickets can be purchased on TicketMaster or at the Arena Box Office.
