BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Broome-Tioga Workforce in partnership with SUNY Broome celebrated the graduation of the first class of the Opportunity Impact Manufacturing Training Program.
The program ran for 4 weeks and included comprehensive case management, guaranteeing successful graduates a full-time position with participating local employers such as Buckingham, Samscreen, Southern Tier Plastics, Square Deal Machining and Triple Cities Metal Finishing. Graduate Michael Barbee who will be working for Buckingham, says he’s so thankful for the opportunity this program has provided.
This class featured 13 graduates, with 65 people that applied to be in it. Broome-Toga Workforce Executive Director Sara Liu says the July session is already full but there will be more throughout the year. Eligible candidates include unemployed or under-employed individuals.
