Weis Markets has made a generous donation to CHOW.

It presented the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse with a check for $15,000 this morning. Recently, the supermarket chain also gave CHOW about $9,000 that customers donated through a campaign to fight hunger that Weis hosted in September. CHOW helps operate about 30 food pantries around Greater Binghamton.

"We see our customers daily throughout the year and we get to know them. They're our friends, relatives and families and it's important, especially at the holidays, to think of those who are less fortunate and really try to help them out," said district manager Mike Umstead.

"We operate 30 pantries throughout Broome County as well 30 pantries and soup kitchens. This is a huge gift that will help feed people through those venues," said Joe Sellepack.

Weis also gave the Magic Paintbruch Project a check for $1,000 today.
