United Way of Broome County Hosts Thank You Reception

The United Way of Broome County hosted a thank you reception Thursday night.
The United Way of Broome County hosted a thank you reception Thursday night. It was held at Roberson Museum and Science Center.

The United Way is in the middle of its annual campaign drive. The goal for the fund-raising effort is to raise $3.25 million to help support its 32 member agencies. Executive Director, Alan Hertel, says so far donations have been tracking toward meeting the goal, although there are still more than two months left in the campaign. Hertel says the reception is a way to thank donors during the holiday season.

"Our community continues to struggle with some job losses, some population loss, but the community has continued to be very supportive as well. So, we couldn't do the work that we do and our partner agencies couldn't do the work they do without the community's support. That's why it's important for us to say thank you," said Hertel.

The winners of the United Way's incentive prizes were also drawn last night. Several lucky donors received gift cards to Manley's, Wegmans and Olum's. For more information on the campaign, log onto UnitedWayBroome.org.
