A competitor for the Southern Tier casino license was pleased to hear Governor Cuomo lay out a timeline for the selection process in his State of the State address.

Traditions at the Glen held a status call with local media. Members of the Walsh family, who own Traditions, say they're making steady progress in preparing information in advance of a Request For Proposals that Cuomo says will be issued in March. It has an engineering study underway, it's held a scoping meeting for a traffic study and has met with Town of Union code and zoning officials. Cuomo says applications will be due in June and that selection will be complete by early Fall.

Bill Walsh says the Traditions project is hands-down above the rest when it comes to meeting Cuomo's stated criteria: creating a resort destination and spurring economic development. Other proposals include Tioga Downs and a Wilmorite Casino in Seneca County.
