Increasing community support and awareness of economic development was talked about at Binghamton University's Downtown Center.
Increasing community support and awareness of economic development was talked about at Binghamton University's Downtown Center.

The SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier hosted guest speaker, Jeff Smith, who is a former executive with NYSEG. He has done a lot of research about economic development and small businesses. Smith discussed how they are linked with a community's well being. Part of his speech was interactive as he asked people to come up with ways that they can become more involved in Greater Binghamton.

"He's presenting this information and asking them saying, is there a role that you can play? Is there a place for you here? Do one of these organizations meet one of your interests? Is there something that you can do to make the economy stronger? Get involved as a volunteer, get involved with cultural activities," said Kowalik.
