There's a new shop intended to satisfy the sweet tooth of students and others in downtown Binghamton.

Simply Sweet Frozen Yogurt has opened on the one-way section of Washington Street. Husband and wife Brian and Becky Christophersen decided to create their own self-serve fro-yo shop. In addition to the 18 flavors with multiple toppings sold by the ounce, Simply Sweet offers traditional Chobani yogurt that can be mixed with toppings for those who don't want the frozen kind.

"We're right here in the downtown walking district. There's nothing like this, no ice cream places, no frozen yogurt places," said Christophersen. "There are a lot of students who live all around us. A lot of student housing, loft apartments, all of the business professionals looking for lunch options. So, that's why we chose this spot. It caters to that walk-in traffic."

Simply Sweet also offers salads, drinks and hot dogs as light lunch options. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, open til 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
