In honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, Seton Catholic Central will be hosting a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the school’s parking lot. In the event of rain the ceremony will be moved inside.
St. Francis of Assisi, whose Feast Day is celebrated on October 4, is the patron saint of animals and ecology. The centuries old custom of the Blessing of Animals is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis’ love for all creatures.
The blessing will be performed by the Franciscan Friars of St. Cyril & Methodius Church in Binghamton.
The ceremony is open to the public who may bring creatures large and small.
In the event of rain the ceremony will take place in the school gymnasium.
