SCORE Helping Businesses

There's help out there for entrepreneurs and small businesses struggling to survive.
There's help out there for entrepreneurs and small businesses struggling to survive.

SCORE is a non-profit sponsored by the Small Business Administration that provides free mentoring by experienced business executives. They can provide assistance with human resources, financing, accounting, marketing and other business needs. Mike Drake helps to promote the organization.

"I started my own small business, an e-commerce business, and I lost thousands. Had I met up with a SCORE counselor, a mentor, chances are I would have saved that because I would have gotten the advice that I needed, rather than the advice that I got," said Drake.

"We do not work with the product particularly. But we work with how to manage your business and give straightforward, realistic business advice," said Bill Ritter.

SCORE is currently looking to add new mentors. If you are interested, call Drake at 205-0821. If you're interested in receiving free assistance, call the Greater Binghamton Chamber at 772-8860 and ask to make a SCORE appointment.
