This year, the George F Johnson Dream Center expanded to a have a third youth basketball team. Recently, the Rotary Club presented the 15 kids with the blue and yellow uniforms. The several hundred dollar donation for the jerseys and shorts allowed the Dream Center to add the team. The Center, which operates out of Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church on Main Street in the Village, runs the free basketball program.

"We have found that's really important to lift their esteem and if kids don't have the resources to be in a league and gain the skills, our hope is that this program will give them those skills so when they get into middle school and high school, they can have the courage and experience that will enable them to try out and make the team," said Patricia Cardin.

"Our mission here is to help them grow and as they grow they're the future. If they don't, we don't have a future," said Ron Heebner.

Davis College's men's and women's basketball teams were also at the presentation. Afterwards they played basketball with the kids and gave them tips on how to become better players.
