Local business and civic leaders got a lesson in gratitude today during the Greater Binghamton Chamber's annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.

U.S. Army Sergeant Rick Yarosh of Windsor was the keynote speaker. In 2006, Yarosh was injured in an IED explosion while serving in Iraq. He suffered severe burns to his head and hands and had to have a part of his leg amputated. Despite the mutilations, Yarosh maintains a positive outlook and is very grateful for the assistance he's received since returning home.

"I'm thankful for life, I'm thankful for family, I'm thankful for community. I'm just thankful for what I have and been blessed with. I think about it sometimes, I probably shouldn't be standing here but I am. And I'm so thankful for it," said Yarosh.

Yarosh now works as a motivational speaker and visits other burn survivors to offer them encouragement. The Chamber also presented its Community Advocate of the Year award to the Binghamton Mets. Mirabito Energy Products was named the Corporate Citizen of the Year.
