A kosher dairy is preparing to breathe new life into the dormant Crowley milk processing plant on Binghamton's Southside.

Mountain Fresh Dairy purchased the facility earlier this year and, with the help of a 200 thousand dollar loan from the Broome County IDA, plans to start producing Chalav Yisroel milk and other dairy products. The 100 percent kosher product is milked under the supervision of an observant Jew.

Mountain Fresh expects to create 87 jobs within three years, selling its products all along the Eastern seaboard. The company says it eventually hopes to branch out into producing kosher Greek yogurts and cheeses. H.P. Hood, which bought out Crowley in 2004, closed the plant in March 2012.
