Julie Taboulie Coming to The Kitchen Store

The Queen of Lebanese Cuisine is coming to Greater Binghamton this weekend.
The Queen of Lebanese Cuisine is coming to Greater Binghamton this weekend. Julie Taboulie is the host of a popular cooking show on PBS focusing on Middle Eastern, and more specifically Lebanese cooking. She grew up in the Syracuse area and learned to cook from her Lebanese mother.

This Saturday, she will be holding two cooking classes at The Kitchen Store in Apalachin. She will prepare a five course meal of creamy carrot soup, stuffed cornish hen, wild rice stuffing, sauteed mixed greens and grains and an apple and quince crumble for dessert. Kitchen Store owner Sue Michaels, who herself is Lebanese, says she reached out directly to Julie Taboulie to ask her to make the visit.

"She is gaining an audience. She is the only person who has a television show nationally and in Canada that features Middle Eastern/Lebanese food," said Sue Michaels, owner of The Kitchen Store.

There are 2 two hour classes scheduled for Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. Registration is a must as seating is limited. You can reserve your spot by calling 625-5048. The Kitchen Store is located in a shopping plaza at 6530 Route 434 in Apalachin. Cost is $40 per person and comes with the meal.
