Jim Boeheim talks about possible new arena for Syracuse

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – As rumors spread of a new sports arena being considered for the city of Syracuse on Tuesday, SU basketball head coach Jim Boeheim shared his thoughts about a possible new home for the Orange.

Boeheim made his comments on the Gomez & Dave morning radio show on TK99.

He spoke about a potential new arena early in the day, before County Executive Joanie Mahoney and Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner spoke publicly.

“I think there is always a possibility,” he said. “I think that is something we have to look at and figure out if it is something that can happen.”

“I think it is something that we have to be open-minded about and look at. I don't think you can ever be satisfied with what you have. You have to take a good hard look at it and see how the numbers work,” Boeheim commented on the radio show.

He added, “We have a new chancellor, who I think is a really smart guy and I think he is going to look at that and figure out what to do.”

Boeheim said the one of the bigger problems at the 33-year-old Carrier Dome is parking. “That would be the one thing that you could guarantee you could improve, that you could have more parking,” he said.
