Gun Supporters Set to Rally in Albany

A group of people from the Southern Tier who support gun rights will also be demonstrating in Albany.
A group of people from the Southern Tier who support gun rights will also be demonstrating in Albany on Wednesday. They say the SAFE Act, which was passed last January, is illogical.

Gary Perry is a spokesman for the New York 2nd Amendment Grassroots Coalition. He says according to the FBI more people are killed with baseball bats, clubs and hammers than from all types of rifles. He believes that the SAFE Act is the first step towards possible future gun confiscation.

"We also feel if we don't fight the Safe Act, which is absurd. It's not making one person safer then we also believe that they go after shotguns, which many people use for hunting, clay pigeon shooting," said Perry.

"It's a totalitarian government that's riding herd over us for no apparent reason. The New York State Constitution actually has the clause in it, it's even stricter than the United States Constitution, where our 2nd amendment rights, our rights to bear arms are a constitutional issue and we should not be infringed," said Al Belardinelli, a 2nd Amendment Coalition supporter.

The group is planning a larger rally in April when the weather will be warmer.
