Over the next few months, Binghamton Mayor Rich David will be filling open positions on his administrative team.

He has appointed former Binghamton Engineer Gary Holmes as the City's Department of Public Works Commissioner. He has also filled another appointed DPW job.

David says he wanted to ensure a smooth transition in the department, because of the storm that we're dealing with. He says it was never his goal to fill every appointed position by January 1st. David says now that he is in office he can better advertise for positions in trade publications. However, he does plan on hiring a deputy mayor soon.

"There are a number of individuals that I'm talking to about that position. I expect to, hopefully within the month of January, to have that position filled," said David.

Some department heads who served under the Ryan administration are staying on, at least temporarily.
