Stormteam Forecast

Rain will come to an end across the Southern Tier and Northeast Pennsylvania Tuesday morning. Skies will brighten this afternoon as temperatures rise into the 60s.

Here are the weather headlines:

• A lingering shower Tuesday morning, then brightening skies in the afternoon.
• A nice day Wednesday before a reinforcing shot of chilly air arrives at night
• Highs only around 60 Thursday, about 10 degrees below normal.
• Another shot at frost on Friday morning for parts of central New York.

A cold front that caused rain across New York state last night is about to sweep east across the state early Tuesday. A shower could linger into Tuesday morning, but high pressure and drier air will build into our area Tuesday afternoon, with increasing sun. Temperatures will only be a bit cooler than on Monday.

The weather will be quiet through Wednesday, with a reinforcing push of cooler air forecast to drop into the Southern Tier Wednesday night. There might be a shower with that front Wednesday night.

You’ll feel that cooler air on Thursday. In spite of sun, it will be a struggle to reach 60 degrees for a high. That is almost 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Clearing skies along with calm winds will set the stage for a potentially frosty night Thursday night into Friday morning.

The good news? We expect temperatures to warm into the 70s for the weekend.
