Toledo Helps with First Tee Program

Mayor Rich David welcomed Esteban Toledo of the Champions Tour to Horace Mann Elementary School as a guest instructor for the Binghamton First Tee Program.
Mayor Rich David welcomed Esteban Toledo of the Champions Tour to Horace Mann Elementary School as a guest instructor for the Binghamton First Tee Program.

The First Tee uses the game of golf to impact the lives of thousands of youth across the country by providing free educational programs that build character and teach valuable life lessons.

The Binghamton chapter has reached more than 800 city youth.

Toledo spoke to the kids, telling them to never give up.

He said he feels a great deal of responsibility as a Tour player to teach kids to dream big and work hard.

"It's our job as players to go out and have fun with the players. The most important things is to have fun with them, let them know what their goals are because if they don't think about goals and dreams, who is going to teach them? That's the PGA Tour, that's the Champions Tour, that's what we are here for," said Toledo.

The Dick's Sporting Goods Open donates $5,000 to the program each year.
