Stormteam Forecast

Not as warm today across the Southern Tier and Northeast Pennsylvania. We are at risk for a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front moves through.

Today will be a day of transition across the Southern Tier and Northeast Pennsylvania as a cold front will move through. We think there will be a few showers and thunderstorms that develop during the afternoon, especially south of Binghamton. Following the cold front will be a change to a cooler and drier air mass.

Thursday will be a cool day. The cool air aloft will make it pretty easy to form quite a bit of cumulus clouds, especially during the morning. Although we have a dry forecast for Thursday, don’t be surprised if there are a few sprinkles early in the day. The day will have all of the feel of an early September day.

Friday will be a day of change. We’ll wake up to some sunshine, but as we go through the day, clouds will increase. Those clouds will be in advance of another run of heat and humidity…and thunderstorms as we go through the weekend.

The chances for rain this weekend are pretty good, but the showers and storms will be pretty scattered. We should see the sun out in between showers and storms, especially Sunday and Monday.

The humidity should climb quite a bit this weekend. The individual showers and storms may produce some locally heavy downpours. Temperatures will also be up and should average above normal for the weekend into the first few days of September.
