The state gaming commission has released minimum dollar amounts for how much it expects developers to spend on new Upstate casinos.

The commission wants any casino built in Orange or Duchess Counties to cost at least $350 million because of the proximity to New York City.

Casinos in the Albany area would have to cost $135 million while a casino in Broome or Tioga Counties would need to come in at over $85 million.

Both Tioga Downs and Traditions at the Glen, competitors for the Southern Tier casino license, say their plans already exceed those minimums with Tioga proposing $105 million in upgrades and Traditions designing a $150 million project.
