Over the next few months, new carpet will be installed in the terminal, walls will be repainted, bathrooms will get over-hauled and the security checkpoint will be redesigned.

Several high-tech improvements will also be made including upgrades to the flight information display system and charging stations will be put in so travelers can charge their electronic devices. Carl Beardsley is Broome County's Aviation Commissioner.

"We work very hard to provide the ultimate customer experience for everyone who comes to this airport and this project will play a key role in making sure we have that going forward," said Beardsley.

The project will cost about $750,000. A state grant will pay for nearly two-thirds of the work. The airport, which is a self-sustaining county fund, will cover the rest.
