Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston Red Sox hitting coach Greg Colbrunn was admitted to a Cleveland hospital Wednesday night after experiencing dizziness prior to Wednesday's game against the Indians.

The team released a statement on Colbrunn's condition Thursday, saying he suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a rupture of a blood vessel surrounding the brain.

Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic expect Colbrunn to make a good recovery. However, he will remain at the medical center for further evaluation over the next few days and did not accompany the Red Sox for their weekend series in Detroit that begins Friday.

Colbrunn joined the Red Sox in November of 2012 and served as hitting coach during the team's run to last year's World Series title.
