Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Heavy rain stopped play at Valhalla for just under two hours during Sunday's final round at the PGA Championship, but players are back on the course.
Officials said the course received an inch of rain in about 45 minutes causing greens and fairways to flood. Valhalla had been soaked by rain the previous two days as well.
Tee times have been adjusted with the final group of Rory McIlroy and Bernd Wiesberger now scheduled to tee off at 4:19 p.m. ET. Sunset in Louisville is at 8:42 p.m. so the final group will be pushing it to finish on time. If there were to be a playoff, that would likely mean a Monday finish.
The last time weather stopped play at the PGA Championship was in 2012 at Kiawah Island. McIlroy, who owned a 1-stroke lead entering Sunday's final round, was a runaway winner that week. The last time there was a Monday finish was in 2005, when Phil Mickelson fended off 1995 PGA winner Steve Elkington and Thomas Bjorn at Baltusrol.
