Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles will be without slugger Chris Davis for the next two games, with the power-hitting first baseman having left the team in order to attend the birth of his child.
The Orioles placed Davis on the paternity list prior to Sunday's finale of a four-game series with the Cleveland Indians. He is expected to rejoin the club Tuesday in Milwaukee for its game against the Brewers.
Davis' wife, Jill, is scheduled to have labor induced on Sunday.
The move clears a spot for newly acquired catcher Nick Hundley, obtained by the Orioles in a trade with San Diego on Saturday, on the active roster.
Baltimore also recalled pitcher Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, with infielder Steve Lombardozzi optioned to the Tides.
Guilmet threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen during Baltimore's 8-7, 13-inning loss to the Indians on Friday, then was sent back to Norfolk the following day.
