New parking garage means easier parking at Lourdes

The three levels of the garage are connected with the ambulatory care center and allow for access to the laboratory, radiology, physical therapy and GI lab.
Binghamton (WIVT) - Parking has gotten a lot easier at Lourdes Hospital, as a free parking garage opened Tuesday.

The three levels of the garage are connected with the ambulatory care center and allow for access to the laboratory, radiology, physical therapy and GI lab.

There is color-coded signage in the garage designed to help patients find their cars again.

Jim Silkworth is Lourdes Vice President for Human Resources and Support Staff.

"A lot of people come to visit the hospital now for ambulatory reasons, something they are going to come in and out of in the same, rather than an overnight stay. So hospital stays have changed a lot in the past couple decades, so really being able to access the hospital conveniently is important to our community," said Jim Silkworth, Lourdes vice president of human resources and support services.

The facility holds 340 vehicles, which is a net parking gain of 200 spots at the hospital.
